When does the conference begin and end?
The conference dates are Wednesday, February 24 through Friday, February 26, 2021. In addition to regular conference programming on Wednesday, there will be two-hour workshops and the Klingenstein + NAIS seminar available for an additional fee ($30).
Where does the conference take place?
The conference will be fully virtual.
Who goes to the conference?
We encourage any member of the independent school community to attend the conference, including trustees, heads of school, teachers, and anyone interested in gaining inspiration and knowledge about the field.

If my school’s registration is being paid for by a third party or by check, how do I register without having to submit payment immediately?
The school needs to register all of the team and pick the option to “pay by check” on the payment page. Then the school or local intermediate unit (whoever needs to pay) issue the check to NAIS.

What will be available for on-demand purchase?
On-demand content (including workshops, keynotes, and some special events) will be available for all conference registrants up to 30 days after the last day of the conference. On-demand content cannot be purchased separately—you must be registered for the conference to receive access to this on-demand content.
Do I have to select the gender pronouns for the people I am registering?
No, this is optional. Attendees will have another opportunity to select their pronouns.
Will keynote speakers be livestreamed to all members?
Because of the functionality of the virtual platform, we will not be able to livestream keynotes to all members in real time. However, we will provide a post-conference recording of keynote speakers for NAIS members.
How does the group discount work?
NAIS offers a special rate to those who are registering five or more individuals from their school. We encourage teams to come to the conference together, attend workshops, and discuss shared experiences and knowledge to implement on campus. Will there be a teacher discount?
The overall conference pricing has been significantly reduced and is structured in a way that additional discounts are not necessary. Group registration pricing offers the opportunity for some participants to register for a price as low as $95.
My school is in the process of applying for NAIS membership. Can I still register at the member rate?
Yes, if your school is in the process of completing an application for membership, contact our membership team at [email protected] or 202-973-9700 for information on how to obtain the member discount.
Can I add other events or activities to my registration at a later date?
Yes, you can log back into your registration profile and register for two-hour workshops or other conference events and activities. Simply follow the link in your confirmation email to do so.

What is the difference between registering for the NAIS Annual Conference and a Signature Experience?
In both cases, you are registering for the NAIS Annual Conference—now there are two ways to experience it. The original conference experience allows you the flexibility to plan your own schedule and the topics you want to explore; opting for the Signature Experience additionally provides exclusive workshops and small group discussions around a specific topic.
Does the Signature Experiences cost more?
The Signature Experiences are first-come, first-served but do not cost more to attend.
Where can I see the Signature Experience schedules?
Go to the Conference Program page, where you will see any Signature Experience events on the right-hand side of the table. All attendees will participate in some of the same aspects of the conference, like keynote speakers, social events, and some workshop programming while Signature Experience participants will also participate in a dedicated large group workshop, followed by small group discussions in a dedicated cohort group.
Who is the intended audience for a Signature Experience?
Any independent school educator who is passionate and engaged around a Signature Experience topic. No matter your role in school or whether you consider yourself an expert or a beginner, all you need to bring is your enthusiasm for learning, growing, and connecting with other like-minded educators. There is no special preparation involved to attend, but you will be asked to be a dedicated participant who attends all parts of your Signature Experience.
Will the Signature Experience content be available on-demand after the conference?
Individuals who register for a Signature Experience will have access to large group workshops for 30 days post-conference. Unfortunately, small group discussions will not be available.
If I am signed up for a Signature Experience, can I still attend one of the Wednesday events?
The Signature Experience schedule does not allow time to participate in any of the two-hour workshops or the Klingenstein + NAIS Seminar.
I signed up for a Signature Experience. Can I change back to the regular conference experience?

Do you offer CPE (Continuing Professional Education) credits for attending the Annual Conference?
While we don't offer actual credits or attendance certificates, we can provide a letter confirming your conference attendance.
